Dehradun, 29 Jul: The Uttarakhand BJP today welcomed the passage of the historic amendment to the anti-cheating law by the Lok Sabha and described the development as a major step towards safeguarding the future of students and ensuring transparency in competitive examinations. At the same time, BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt also launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks during the parliamentary debate, accusing him of making false allegations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah to create confusion and sensationalism. He further alleged that Rahul Gandhi had insulted students inside Parliament through his comments.
In a statement issued to the media, Bhatt said the passage of the stringent amendment to the anti-cheating law fulfilled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to students and the nation to adopt tougher measures against paper leaks and examination malpractices. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and all Lok Sabha MPs for supporting what he described as a landmark legislative measure. He said the new law would prove to be a milestone in protecting the future of young people and bringing greater transparency to competitive examinations.
Bhatt also strongly criticised what he described as Rahul Gandhi’s attempts to spread confusion, falsehoods and sensationalism both inside Parliament and through the media. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi had dragged Amit Shah’s name into the debate solely to create a sensation. According to Bhatt, Rahul Gandhi’s claim that students were fired upon in Delhi or that any such order had been issued was completely false and baseless. He asserted that the Congress leader had failed to produce any concrete evidence to substantiate the allegation.
He further alleged that Gandhi had insulted educated and aware students by referring to them as ‘idiots’ and ‘andhbhakts’. Bhatt described the remarks as highly objectionable and said that by using such language, Gandhi had insulted the youth and students of the entire country. He said Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation for his remarks.
Bhatt asserted that Home Minister Amit Shah’s firm policies have instilled fear among terrorists and enemies of the country, Rahul Gandhi’s claim that people are afraid of the Home Minister reflects political immaturity of Gandhi. He alleged that such statements form part of a larger conspiracy by the Congress to create disorder and confusion in the country. Bhatt claimed that the Congress is aware that it can’t return to power through the people’s mandate and is therefore attempting to revive its political fortunes by spreading misinformation, falsehoods and unrest.
Expressing confidence in the public, Bhatt said the people of the country, particularly the youth, are fully capable of seeing through the Congress’s political tactics and false narratives.
