Dehradun, 3 Aug: Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi visited Buranshkhanda in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency on Monday, where he distributed free pea seeds and other vegetable seeds to farmers under the Horticulture Mission Scheme.
During the visit, he interacted with farmers and encouraged them to make maximum use of the various agriculture and horticulture schemes being implemented by the government. He also distributed free seasonal saplings and vegetable seeds at Picture Palace, Mussoorie.
During the programme, the Agriculture Minister directed officials of the Horticulture Department to promote the establishment of a larger number of apple and kiwi orchards in the region under the Horticulture Mission. He also instructed officials to encourage farmers to set up polyhouses with assistance from NABARD so that more farmers could benefit from protected cultivation.
Joshi announced that a Mobile Squad Centre would soon be established in Buranshkhanda to provide farmers with technical assistance and agriculture-related services at the local level. He further directed officials to organise regular training programmes for farmers to help them adopt modern farming and horticulture practices, thereby enhancing their income.
He also instructed officials to organise a special camp at Suwakholi to create awareness about the agriculture and horticulture schemes of the Central and State Governments and to ensure that all eligible farmers receive the benefits of these schemes.
The Agriculture Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State Government is continuously working to increase farmers’ income and make agriculture more profitable. He stated that the government remains committed to making farmers self-reliant and prosperous through modern horticulture, high-quality seeds, polyhouses, irrigation facilities, training, and technical support.
District Panchayat Member Veer Singh Chauhan, Gram Pradhan Poonam Devi, Mandal President Rajat Agrawal, Kushal Rana, Anuj Kaushal, Sanjay Rana, Shyam Singh, Chief Horticulture Officer DK Tiwari, along with a large number of local residents, were present on the occasion.
