Dehradun, 18 Aug: The Youth Welfare and Provincial Defence Corps Department has finalised the framework for organising ‘Khel Mahakumbh‑2026 – Chief Minister Championship Trophy’ during the financial year 2026‑27. The competitions will be held at Nyaya Panchayat, Assembly, Parliamentary and State levels between 1 September and 30 October 2026.
At the Nyaya Panchayat level, local representatives’ sports competitions will be conducted from 1 to 10 September, followed by the Assembly level MLA Championship Trophy from 11 to 20 September. The Parliamentary constituency level MP Championship Trophy will be held from 21 to 30 September, while the State level Chief Minister Championship Trophy will take place between 10 September and 30 October.
Events at the Nyaya Panchayat level will include kabaddi, athletics, kho‑kho and traditional games such as murga jhapat in under‑14 and under‑19 boys and girls categories. Volleyball and pitthoo will be contested at the Assembly level, while the Parliamentary level will feature mallakhamb, tug of war, marbles, football and badminton. At the State level, competitions will cover judo, boxing, table tennis, taekwondo, karate, basketball, hockey, handball, yoga, swimming, archery, fencing, wrestling, pencak silat, powerlifting, weightlifting, baseball and lawn tennis, along with events for women’s open category and para‑athletes.
Director, Youth Welfare and Provincial Defence Corps, Deepti Singh has issued detailed guidelines and she has also sought cooperation from all the related departments to ensure successful organisation.
Commenting on this Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami observed that the objective of the Khel Mahakumbh is to encourage sporting talent among the youth, provide a platform for players from rural and remote areas, and create opportunities for them to participate in state and national level competitions.
