Besides the dignitaries and writers who were honoured on the occasion, Garhwal Post also conferred ‘Mission Accomplishment Awards’ on some of its employees and associates who have had a long association with the publication. Delhi based senior journalists Dr Manish Kumar (founder of Capital TV) and Gayatri Devi (Founder of The Alternate Media) were honoured for excellence in journalism.

The dignitaries and achievers from various fields honoured today were educationist and writer Kulbhushan Kain; former DGP of Uttarakhand and writer Anil Raturi; Director, AIIMS Rishikesh, Prof Dr Meenu Singh (for innovation in field of medical science); DG-UCOST Prof Durgesh Pant (for research innovations and capacity building in science); David Hilton, Harinder Singh Mann, Raunak Jain, SK Tyagi, Poras Raj Nagar, Shriyance Jain for their contribution in the education sector; Vivek Iyer for technological innovations in education; Sumit Dhawan (for contribution in industry sector); Actors Anil George and Dev Raturi for contribution in acting; Film Writer and Director Dinesh P Bhonsle; Ashish Kukreti for excellence in classical Hindustani music; Kamla Devi for her contribution to Kumaoni Folk Music; Kavindra Singh Mehta (RJ Kaavya) for his contribution to broadcasting); Aditya Vikram Shastri and Lansdowne Cafe (Amit and Shipra Mohan) for their contribution to the hospitality sector; Nitin Gairola for travel writing; Dr Nitin Pandey for contribution to medical field and social service; Fouzia Dastango for her contribution to Urdu Dastaangoi; Jamie Alter for sports journalism; Satpal Gandhi for photography; Kiran Ulfat Goyal and Anurag Chauhan for social work; and Harshil Panjwani for architecture and building expertise.
Besides, veteran journalist Arun Pratap Singh, Manohar Singh Yadav (Senior Office Assistant), Neeraj Sharma (General Manager Printing & Technical Works), Rajeev Sharma (Manager Marketing), Preeti Rana (GM Admin and Finance), CP Naithani (Graphic Designer), Kunal Chandra (Graphic Designer), Mohtshim Khan (Photographer), Satish Jain (Distributor), Ankur Gupta (CA), Amit Garg (Pre-Press Operations) and were also honoured on this occasion by the Governor.
A panel discussion on Future of Education was also held in the presence of the Governor and Koshyari, in which the increasing use of technology and AI in education was discussed by the panellists comprising DG-UCOST Prof Dr Durgesh Pant, Director, AIIMS Rishikesh, Prof Dr Meenu Singh and Vivek Iyer from digital education platform D2L. Kavindra Singh Mehta was the anchor of the discussion.
The welcome address was delivered by the Editor and Publisher of Garhwal Post, Satish Sharma, in which he narrated some experiences of the journey of the Garhwal Post and expressed his gratitude to the Governor and Koshyari for gracing the occasion. He also mentioned that the Governor has been very generous in providing all possible support to Garhwal Post in the past 5 years. He also recalled his association with Koshyari. Sharma also mentioned the contribution of News Editor Ashok P Misra and senior journalist Arun Pratap Singh in making Garhwal Post what it is today. Sharma also remembered the late Bollywood actor Tom Alter who not only contributed to Garhwal Post as a writer but also was a well-wisher of the paper.
Prominent citizen Rajeev Nangia anchored the event while Arun Pratap Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
On this occasion, a poetry version of the book, Vatayan, was also released. This is an English translation done by Ravindra Saini of the original book also titled ‘Vatayan: Ek Rashtravadi Sikh Ki Jeevan Yatra’ based on life of Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd). Saini and his daughter Ayushi also addressed the gathering. A large number of dignitaries, including veteran journalist Upendra Sharma were present on the occasion.
