DM inspects EVM Warehouse in presence of representatives of political parties

Dehradun, 5 Sep: District Magistrate and District Election Officer, Dr Ashish Chauhan today inspected the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) warehouse along with the representatives of various political parties. During the visit, he reviewed the arrangements for the safe storage, security and monitoring of EVMs and VVPAT machines in line with the standards and guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India.
Examining the security arrangements, the DM directed the officials concerned to ensure full compliance with all the prescribed protocols. He emphasised that the EVM warehouse is a crucial part of the electoral process and that no negligence should be tolerated in the security, maintenance or monitoring of the machines. He also checked the entry and exit arrangements and the related records and also instructed that regular monitoring and inspection of the warehouse be carried out strictly as per the Commission’s directions.
Chauhan stressed that maintaining transparency and credibility in the electoral process is of the highest priority, and for this the secure upkeep of EVMs and VVPATs along with adherence to security protocols is essential. He urged all the related officials to discharge their responsibilities with seriousness and vigilance.
Representatives of political parties present were also briefed about the security and other arrangements of the warehouse under the provisions of the Election Commission, and their participation in the inspection process was ensured.
Among those present on the occasion included Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, EVM nodal officer Dinak Rautela, Tehsildar Sadar Surendra Dev, Assistant District Election Officer Narendra Devli, along with party representatives including Kamal Rana of Aam Aadmi Party and Daulatram Makwana of BJP.
