Dehradun, 17 Sep: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) today met meritorious students from the Devprayag Assembly constituency who are embarking on a Bharat Darshan educational tour. The students, travelling on an educational initiative facilitated by Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari, interacted with the Governor at Lok Bhavan, who extended his best wishes for their bright future.
During the interaction, the Governor said that a Bharat Darshan educational tour is not merely an opportunity to travel, but a means to understand the country closely and learn new things. He urged the students to observe and explore new experiences with curiosity during the tour and incorporate their learnings into their lives.
He said that knowledge of history, culture, science, technology and democracy gained through textbooks becomes more meaningful when students see and experience these subjects themselves.
The Governor encouraged the students to identify their talents and make continuous efforts to develop them. He advised them to strive for excellence in whichever field they choose, keep learning new things and equip themselves to adapt to a rapidly changing world. He also emphasised the importance of learning modern technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), saying that its appropriate use can open new avenues of knowledge and opportunity.
He urged the students to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals. “Do not allow your circumstances to become your limitations,” he said, adding that even a student from the hills of Devprayag can reach the country’s premier institutions with determination, consistent hard work and self-confidence.
The Governor advised the students not to restrict the Bharat Darshan tour to tourism, but to use it as an opportunity to learn and broaden their outlook. He encouraged them to document their experiences and share them with their schools and fellow students after returning. He said the success of the students would be more meaningful when their experiences and new ideas inspire other children to move forward.
As part of the educational tour, the students will visit Rishikesh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya and Roorkee.
MLA Vinod Kandari, Vice Chairman of the Rural Engineering Services Advisory Committee Jot Singh Bisht, along with the participating students and teachers, were present on the occasion.
