Dehradun, 28 Sep: St Joseph’s Academy conducted the 8th Patrician Brothers’ Inter-House GK Quiz Competition on 25 September, bringing together four teams representing Bergin, Dooley, Donovan and Duffy Houses in an exciting contest of knowledge, speed and presence of mind.
Designed to test much more than conventional general knowledge, the competition comprised nine diverse and engaging rounds — Grab Bag, In the Papers, Tech Titans, Brainstorming, Lab Notes, Match Point, Market Masters, Sight & Sound, and Minute to Win. The varied format challenged the participants across current affairs, technology, science, markets and other areas of general awareness.
The quiz incorporated direct questions, choice-based rounds, buzzer rounds and transferable questions, adding strategy and suspense to the contest. Several rounds also included audience questions, ensuring enthusiastic involvement beyond the competing teams. The buzzer rounds, with negative marking, demanded calculated risk-taking, while the concluding Minute to Win round tested the participants’ ability to think accurately and rapidly under pressure.
The competition remained keenly contested, with every House displaying commendable preparation and team spirit. At the end of the nine rounds, Bergin House
represented by Aryan Acharya, Sanidhya Singh Rana, Tritshu Jitesh Yuddhawal, emerged victorious with 199 points, securing the First Position. Dooley House finished a close second with 185 points, while Duffy House, with 149 points, secured the Third Position. Donovan House concluded the competition with 123 points.
The event provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their awareness, analytical ability, teamwork and quick recall while reinforcing the importance of learning beyond the classroom.
The event concluded with the Principal’s address, in which Brother Joseph complimented the students and teachers on the hard work they had put in and urged the Josephites to keep challenging themselves to learn more.
