CM Dhami takes part in Corbett Safari, sights tiger

Dehradun, 13 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in a tiger safari at the Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve and also interacted with tourists, this morning. He was also fortunate to sight a tiger chasing a deer soon after entering the park.

Later, the CM also discussed relevant issues with the patrolling forest personnel and shared words of encouragement with them. On this occasion, Dhami also fed jaggery, gram and fruits to the elephants on duty at the park. He noted that the Corbett Tiger Reserve is world famous as a thrilling jungle safari destination for wildlife lovers. The CM also shared his experience in a post on X (formerly Twitter) expressing happiness. He stated that he also held discussions with the tourists present there during his trip.

The tourists were pleasantly surprised to see the CM in forest uniform suddenly in their midst without many security personnel.

During his trip to the Tiger Reserve, the Chief Minister sought information about the administrative arrangements at the Corbett Tiger Reserve from its Director, Dr Dheeraj Pandey. He directed the officials to start community employment for the people of villages adjacent to Corbett and also take steps to promote the local products manufactured by them. On this occasion, the CM also reviewed the action being taken against encroachment on forest land. He said that there is a need to provide facilities to tourists, which would increase their number and will also strengthen the economy of the state along with additional income for the businessmen doing business in and around Corbett National Park.

Dhami said that Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of India to visit the border areas of Adi Kailash, Parvati Kund and the Jageshwar Dham in Uttarakhand. Under his leadership, all-round development of Kedarnath Dham has been achieved. With the development of Kedarnath Dham, the number of tourists is increasing rapidly. The inclusion of the temples of Kumaon in the Mandir Mala Mission under Manas Khand will provide a new place for the tourists and the pilgrims to explore and will boost the tourism business in Kumaon. He said that road, rail and air connectivity are expanding rapidly in the state. The reconstruction work on Kedarnath Dham and the work on the master plan for redevelopment of Badrinath Dham are going on at a fast pace.

The Chief Minister said that the temples and religious places of Kumaon are being linked to the Manas Khand Mandir Mala Mission. This will provide modern facilities to the tourists, while the increase in the number of tourists will strengthen the economy of the state and provide employment to the local people. The CM also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister Modi for inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of schemes worth Rs 4200 crores in the state during his visit to Pithoragarh. He said that a medical college is being built in Pithoragarh and the construction work of the Pithoragarh to Tanakpur all-weather road is in progress.

It may be recalled that Dhami had arrived in Ramnagar last night and stayed there. In the morning, today, he reached the Jhirna Entry of the Corbett Reserve for the Safari.
