Dehradun, 25 Jun: The two girls who went missing from Banbhulpura, Haldwani, around six days ago have been finally traced by the Police after six days. According to sources, the police have recovered both the minor girls from Muzaffarnagar.
It may be recalled that six days ago, two students studying in class 9 and 11 suddenly went missing from Banbhulpura police station area. It was alleged that a boy from Muslim community living in the same locality had lured and kidnapped them. His name is stated to be Mohammed Tanveer. After this development, several BJP leaders and Hindu organisations had been putting pressure on the Police and blaming it for its inability to find out the girls. A large number of local residents had also gathered outside and created a ruckus in Banbhulpura police station after the incident. They had also tried to contact SSP Nainital PN Meena on Sunday and had reached his office, but he was not there. Other police officers had told the local BJP and Hindu leaders that SSP was not in a position to meet them which angered the local Hindu leaders and they had warned that they will burn an effigy of SSP Meena if he does not meet them by 3:30 p.m. and hold a protest against him. Finally, SSP Meena arrived at the Police Multipurpose Building at around 5 p.m. and assured the BJP and the representatives of the Hindu organisations that the Police was on its job and would soon recover the girls. On his assurance, the people ended their protest. This also activated the Police which today managed to locate the girls today in Muzafffarnagar.
Earlier, the police had come to know that the girls were with Mohammed Tanveer in Badayun r but had managed to flee before the Police could reach them. Finally, they were traced in Muzaffarnagar.
Meanwhile, the local Congress MLA Sumit Hridayesh had sought to blame the BJP for the incident and accused it and other Hindu organisations of trying to communalise the incident. He had this morning met the family of the girls and claimed that BJP was traying to flare communal tension in the area. It is not clear whether the accused Mohammed Tanveer has also been arrested by the Police or not. It is also learnt that the Police was for past two days interrogating some people close to Tanveer and got to know from them his possible locations in Badayun and then in Muzaffarnagar.
