Dehradun, 28 Jun: Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress President Karan Mahara, while addressing a press conference at the State Congress Headquarters here, today, alleged that involvement of BJP leaders is seen in all the incidents of women exploitation that have happened in the past 7 years in Uttarakhand. He claimed that this exposes the anti-women face of BJP and the falsehood behind the slogan ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ of the BJP. He also demanded a CBI Inquiry into the recent gang rape and murder case in Haridwar.
While addressing the journalists, Mahara said that the incident of rape and murder of a minor girl in Bahadarabad of Haridwar district by a BJP leader, who was also a member of the OBC Commission, is an incident that shames humanity and tarnishes the pride of Devbhoomi. This incident has refreshed the memories of the Ankita Bhandari murder case but has also exposed the chameleon character and anti-women power face of the BJP.
Mahara claimed that, if the BJP government had not committed the rape of saving the murderers of Ankita Bhandari, then the honour and life of an innocent could have been saved, but the BJP government tried to destroy the evidence of the murder and save the murderers, due to which the morale of many BJP leaders increased and this resulted in rape and murder of a Dalit daughter of the state had to lose her identity and life.
Mahara said that during the two-year tenure of the present Dhami government in the state, there has been a flood of incidents of heinous crimes like murder, theft, robbery, rape of innocents. He cited Ankita Bhandari, Hema Negi, Pinky murder cases, and the rape of a minor in Champawat, gang rape in Manglaur, and attempt to rape a girl in Srinagar, rape of a minor Dalit girl in Dwarahat among the recent cases in support of his claim. He also alleged that no action has been taken by the Police against the BJP leaders involved in the crimes.
He also said that the BJP governments, which send CBI and ED on every small issue to harass and arrest leaders of opposition parties never want the CBI to inquire cases of rapes and murders in BJP ruled states. He asserted that Congress demands from the Dhami government of the state to get the rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Bahadarabad investigated by the CBI.
