CM participates in world famous Bagwal Fair in Devidhura

Champawat, 19 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Bagwal Fair held at Maa Varahi Dham in Devidhura of Champawat district on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. On this occasion, the Chief Minister offered a bell at the Maa Varahi Temple and prayed for the prosperity and progress of the state. The Chief Minister witnessed the world famous “stone war” played with fruits and flowers between Chaar Kham and Saat Thok at Maa Varahi Dham. This year the stone war lasted for about 11 minutes.

On this occasion, CM Dhami announced that the construction work for flood protection in Ratia River in Reetha and the construction of an alternative approach road would be done and the remaining infrastructure work at Varahi Temple would be included under the Manaskhand corridor scheme.  He also visited the stalls set up by various departments.

Dhami paid obeisance to various Gods and Goddesses while wishing everyone a Happy Raksha Bandhan. He observed that he was feeling overwhelmed after coming to the historical and picturesque area of ​​​​Devidhura. He observed that the Bagwal Mela is a confluence of the folk culture, faith and traditions of Kumaon region. This fair promotes the local culture and traditions. He called upon the younger generation to keep getting the energy to carry forward the old traditions. It is the duty of all of all to carry forward the folk culture from generation to generation.

Dhami said that the Gods reside in every particle of Devbhoomi. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP Government is preserving the cultural heritage of Devbhoomi as well as promoting mythological sites. Under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission, the mythological temples of Kumaon region are being beautified and restored. Devidhura is also an important part of this mission. He said that along with the Char Dhams, the work on connecting the temples in Manaskhand with ropeways is also underway. Maa Purnagiri Dham is also being connected with ropeways. Special trains are also being run under Manaskhand Yatra.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working in various fields like agriculture, milk production, education, horticulture along with the promotion of temples in the state. Champawat College is being developed as a campus of Soban Singh Jeena University. ARTO sub-office has been opened in Champawat headquarters. Along with making Champawat an ideal district, the state government is also continuously working on making Uttarakhand a leading state in the country. On this occasion, he also launched the “Jai Maa Varahi” video prepared by folk artist Girish Bargali and also planted a sapling in the GIC campus Devidhura near the helipad.

On this occasion, District Panchayat Chairman Jyoti Rai, MLA Khushal Singh Adhikari, MLA Ram Singh Kaida, BJP District President Nirmal Mahara, former MP Dr Mahendra Singh Pal, Vice President, SETU, Rajshekhar Joshi, Varahi Temple Committee Patron Laxman Singh Lamgadiya, Chairman Mohan Singh Bisht, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganapati were among those present.
