Dehradun, 5 Oct: BJP state spokesperson Hemant Dwivedi today claimed that the Pushkar Dhami government is making continuous and sincere efforts to enact strong land laws in Uttarakhand. In a statement issued today, Dwivedi claimed that the upcoming land laws will be aimed at effective controlling and monitoring of land deals in the state to protect the interests of local residents.
The BJP leader added that due to increasing investment from outside the state and land acquisitions, the people of the state have been demanding strict land-related rules to prevent indiscriminate land transactions and to maintain environmental and demographic balance. In response, the Dhami government has formed expert committees to study current laws and present new recommendations.
Dwivedi indicated that the new land laws might include provisions to limit land acquisition by outsiders and to prioritise local residents in land purchases, and ensure quick resolution of real estate disputes.
The BJP spokesman also reminded that the dreams of Shiva devotees to visit the holy Mount Kailash from India itself has been fulfilled from the first Navratri. On the first day of Navratri, a five-member team of pilgrims visited Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh in Pithoragarh district, and the devotees were overwhelmed by the divine sight. Following approval from the central government, the Pushkar Dhami government has prepared for the successful conduct of the Yatra, with Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam announcing a tour package. The Uttarakhand Development Council and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam have created a 5-day tour package for sighting Mount Kailash.
Dwivedi further stated that, inspired by the Pushkar Singh Dhami government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rapid progress is being made under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to connect villages with roads. Roads are the foundation of progress, and the government is committed to providing roads to every village. Efforts are also being made to link the remaining villages with road access. He also reminded that during the three years of the Dhami government, 519 roads with a total length of 1481 kilometres have been constructed in Uttarakhand under PMGSY, connecting 35 new villages with populations of over 250. Additionally, 195 bridges were constructed, and 61 rural roads with a length of 159 km were upgraded. A total of Rs 2310 crore swas spent on these constructions.
Under the third phase of PMGSY, the Government of India has approved Rs 1,824 crores for upgrading previously constructed roads, covering a total of 2,288 kilometres. Furthermore, under the Vibrant Village Scheme, Rs 119 crore has been approved for connecting eight settlements without road access.
