Dehradun, 19 Oct: The School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, held a three-day event to commemorate World Mental Health Day, themed, “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health at the Workplace”. Launched on 8 October, the event promoted mental well-being in professional, personal, and academic spaces.
Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, and Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, pro-Vice Chancellor, gave impactful speeches, highlighting the global mental health crisis and the role of educational institutions in promoting wellness. The first day featured creative activities, where students from various colleges participated in rangoli, art exhibitions, tattoo making, and poster making, using art to express their emotions.
On the second day, students from different colleges explored their psychological traits through psychological testing. In contrast, Psychology Department students participated in a quiz to enhance their understanding of mental health concepts.
The final day included a workshop by Prof Garima Jain on “Love and Mental Health”, followed by a panel discussion featuring Vice Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi, Astha Nagpal, and Garima Jain. The event concluded with a psychodrama performance and the presentation of a final report by Dr Anju Singh, summarising all activities.
The Psychology Department of the School of Liberal Arts also observed Mental Health Week. It was coordinated by Dr Atika Tewari, Chairperson of the University Psychology Counselling Cell, along with Shilpi Prakash, Jageshwar Ray, Dr Anju Singh, and Dr Abhinav Gaur, under the leadership of Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Director of the School of Liberal Arts. The event was a resounding success, empowering participants to prioritise mental health and reaffirming the University’s commitment to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy community.
