Mussoorie, 21 Oct: The 5-day Cosco Cricket Tournament organized by Kolti Cricket Club at the Survey Ground, here, was inaugurated by former Uttarakhand Cricket Association President Jot Singh Gunsola today. The inaugural match was played between Kolti Mawana and Young Cantt. Young Cantt defeated Kolti Mawana by 22 runs. On this occasion, Gunsola praised the tournament and said that, through such sports competitions, players from Mussoorie and nearby areas get a chance to hone their talent. He also said that the BCCI is also making efforts through various means to promote cricket in Uttarakhand and efforts are being made to include Cosco cricket at the national level.
Former Municipality President Manmohan Singh Mall said that, due to lack of a play field in Mussoorie, players here are facing a lot of problems. He said that due to the government’s negligence, the construction of the proposed stadium is not being done, whereas during his tenure, several acres of land in the Bhiladru area was given to the Uttarakhand Sports Department for free. Even after 9 years, the Sports Department has not been able to construct the Bhiladru stadium, which is unfortunate. The BCCI can build a high altitude Bhiladru sports stadium at its own level, which can benefit the players as well as the people of the area.

Village head Kolti Mawana Sabal Singh Pawar and former District Panchayat member Jaipal Singh Kairwan said that for the second time they are organising a cricket competition in Mussoorie so that a better platform can be given to the players of Mussoorie and nearby areas and they can make their place in the district and national level games by showcasing their skills. He said that due to lack of sports ground in Kolti Mawana, he organises various competitions in Mussoorie, but there is only one survey ground, in which big level sports cannot be organised.

On this occasion, social worker Megh Singh Kandhari, Village Head, Kolti Mawana, Kavita Devi, BDC Member Poonam Bankwan, Vinita Devi, Competition Coordinator Sabal Singh Panwar, Jaiveer Singh Panwar, Ram Singh Panwar, Suman Panwar, Rakesh Panwar, Anand Panwar, Choun Singh, Nagendra Panwar, Arvind Panwar, Professor VP Joshi, Pramod Bhartiya, Shalini Gupta, Kavita Raunchela, Ajay Kumar, Anil Singh Annu, Anand Panwar and others were present.
