5th Convocation Ceremony of Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University held in Rishikesh

Rishikesh, 19 Nov: The fifth convocation ceremony of Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University was held at the Pandit Lalit Mohan Sharma Campus, Rishikesh, today. The ceremony was inaugurated by the Chancellor/Governor, Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), who lit the ceremonial lamp. On this occasion, Minister for Higher Education Dr Dhan Singh Rawat and Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal were also present.
As many as 21,230 undergraduate and postgraduate students were awarded degrees, and 81 students were honoured with gold medals on the occasion. Student Kavita Rani, who secured the highest marks among all faculties at the undergraduate level in 2023, was awarded the Sridev Suman Gold Medal – 2023. Students who secured the highest marks in History, Anthropology, and Fine Arts — Kumari Tanu Singh, Kumari Anchal, and Ritika Balodi, respectively —were given the Captain Shoorveer Singh Panwar Gold Medal. Student Anshika Bartwal, who achieved the highest marks in the Faculty of Commerce, was awarded the Late Nandan Purohit Gold Medal.
In his convocation address, the Governor congratulated all degree holders and gold medalists and urged them to contribute to nation-building. He called upon the students to take five resolutions for success and growth. He emphasised the following points: Always set big dreams and high goals; adopt strong willpower, self-discipline, and consistency in all endeavours; work hard and put in extra effort to achieve any goal or success; approach any task with dedication, hard work, and professionalism; continuously strive to improve communication skills.
The Governor also emphasised the growing importance of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity in today’s world. He urged students to develop skills in these areas and keep themselves updated. By adopting new technologies, they would reach new heights of success, he said.
The Governor further stated that today’s youth is the builder of tomorrow’s India. He urged students to dedicate their abilities to nation-building with the spirit of “Nation First” and “One India, Best India”. He also highlighted the nine resolutions articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the state’s formation day, describing them as key to the development of Uttarakhand. He asked them to implement these resolutions to make the state stronger, prosperous, and self-reliant.
Minister for Higher Education, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated the students and informed them about the reforms and innovative work being done in higher education. Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal also congratulated the degree holders and encouraged them to move towards self-employment. The Vice Chancellor of Sridev Suman University, Prof NK Joshi, presented a progress report of the university and welcomed all the guests.
The ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Dinesh Chandra, Campus Director Prof MS Rawat, Vice Chancellors of various universities, members of the University’s Governing and Academic Councils, Principals of affiliated colleges/institutions, university officers, and staff.
