Dehradun, 6 Dec: Uttarakhand Congress raised an outcry over the “poor health and education system” in the state. Former PCC Chief and now MLA from Chakrata, Pritam Singh, and his supporters gheraoed the residence of cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat. Congress workers staged a dharna and raised slogans against the state government and against the health and education minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat.
Congress workers accused the government of mismanaging the crucial education and health sectors in the state. Pritam Singh and his supporters sat in protest for a long time, after which the police took them into custody and sent them to the Police Lines. Pritam Singh stated that the health system in the state’s hospitals is in shambles and there is a lack of education in government schools, but the government is not taking the problems seriously. He alleged that there is a shortage of doctors in the state’s government hospitals across the state and shortage of teachers in the hills.
Pritam Singh alleged that people in Uttarakhand are not receiving good and adequate education and health facilities. He demanded immediate measures to ensure improvements in education and health facilities. Singh claimed that the entire government is steeped in corruption and vowed to continue his struggle against it. He mentioned that he had initially planned to stage the protest alone, but many colleagues joined him.
