Dehradun, 6 Dec: BJP‘s National Secretary and In charge of the party affairs in Uttarakhand, Dushyant Gautam today criticised the Opposition for not allowing Parliament to function and for rushing to places where they are not required to visit in view of the need to maintain peace. He stated that this is not a race amongst the Opposition leaders but a competition amongst themselves to keep their stone-pelting voters in Sambhal on their side. Regarding the attack on journalists, he said that attacking constitutional institutions, the judiciary, journalists, and the public is an important part of the Congress strategy. Gautam is currently touring Dehradun to hold party meetings and to review preparations of the party in respect of coming municipal elections.
Responding to questions about the recent attack on journalists at the party headquarters, by the Opposition leaders, Gautam alleged that the opposition wants to divide the country and society through casteism and appeasement. He accused Congress and the leaders of this “tukde tukde gang,” of continuously carrying out such acts. He claimed that Congress insults the media, the constitution, the judiciary, the executive, constitutional institutions, and the public as part of its political strategy and discourse. Gautam observed that various institutions often respond to these allegations from time to time, leading to incidents that reveal the opposition‘s fragmented thinking.
In response to questions regarding the Opposition leaders not being allowed to go to Sambhal, Gautam asked whom the opposition would meet there, recalling that they had previously gone to Manipur and returned after fuelling unrest there. He asserted that the opposition leaders are wanting to meet the stone-pelters in Sambhal who disrupt peace. Gautam claimed that the Opposition, including Congress, cannot digest the fact that peace is being restored in Sambhal. He expressed surprise over the fact that Congress is not allowing Parliament to function, which is crucial. For the last 10 years, they have not allowed any Parliament session to be successful, wasting people’s hard-earned money.
Gautam reminded that the country faces many challenges that need to be addressed, and any suggestions should be brought forward. He accused the opposition of engaging in narrow politics instead of raising pertinent issues. He claimed that there is a tug of war amongst the opposition over the Muslim vote bank in Sambhal and that everyone competing to ensure his or her vote bank does not shift away. He claimed that the opposition is not concerned about the constitution, Parliament, or the public, but only about their minority vote bank. He pointed out that the Opposition very conveniently ignored incidents in West Bengal, Bahraich in UP, in Karnataka, Kerala, and Rajasthan but wants to focus towards ensuring that stone-pelters do not face any problems.
