Dehradun, 19 Dec: St Thomas’ College held its Inter-House Singing & Dance Competition 2024, here, today. The four houses – Fraser House, Degruyther House, Burn House, and Cole House – participated in solo and duet singing performances, as well as a Bollywood dance contest.
The judges were Jyotika Gonsalves, ex-Principal St Xavier’s School, LM Sharma, ex-Student and ex-Teacher, St Thomas’ College, currently teaching in Carman School, Dalanwala, and Alexander Lazarus, a multi-talented musician and singer.
The Solo Singing segment featured remarkable performances, with students from each house showcasing their vocal talents. Tanmay Thapa of Fraser House set the tone with the soulful “As Long As You Love Me”. Jaaniya Kaur of Degruyther House captivated the audience with her rendition of “Whenever, Wherever”, while Shubhangi Saklani from Burn House brought the house down with her powerful performance of “Yellow”. Arnav Raturi from Cole House serenaded everyone with “I Want It That Way”, adding to the morning’s brilliance.
In the Duet Singing category, the collaboration of voices became the highlight. Akshita and Shashank Singh from Burn House harmonised beautifully with “Dil Toh Pagal Hai”. Cole House was represented by the duo of Devansh Tomar and Arifa Salmani, who performed “Are Re Are Ye Kya Hua” with charm and energy. Fraser House’s Vinayak Uniyal and Ridhima Pratap Singh wowed with “Zara Sa Jhoom Lu Mein”, while Harshit Bhaukhandi and Divyani Deoli from Degruyther House mesmerised the audience with their soulful performance of “Goonji Si Hai”.
The final segment, Bollywood Dance, added an exhilarating flair to the competition. Each house presented its best moves with a dynamic Bollywood Mashup, bringing a burst of energy and colour to the stage. Students’ coordinated performances displayed their passion for dance, and the houses displayed their creativity and teamwork.
All the students’ efforts were celebrated by their peers, teachers, and the audience.
The final results, including the winners of each category, were: In the English Solo singing category, Shubhangi Saklani from Burn House was declared the winer, while Jaaniya Kaur from Degruyther House was the runners-up. In the Hindi Duet singing, Harshit Bhaukhundi and Divyani Deoli were declared the winners, while Devansh Tomar and Arifa Salmani were the runners-up. In the Bollywood Dance, Fraser House was declared the winners and Burn House the Runners-up.
The Chief Guest congratulated the students and gave an inspiring speech, appreciating the way the programme was conducted. She also gave away the prizes.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the Principal, RV Gardner.
