Dehradun, 21 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Gangadhara-Vicharon Ka Aviral Pravah programme at Doon University, here today. During the event, he also visited stalls showcasing hill products and praised the organisers for their efforts. Dhami emphasised that such events nourish culture and traditions while bringing positive change to society. While addressing the gathering, Dhami likened the flow of thoughts to the uninterrupted flow of the Ganga, inspiring progress in life. He noted that the exchange of ideas has always been a part of Indian traditions, with dialogue and discussion forming the basis of education in ancient Gurukuls.
Dhami asserted that the programme would feature guidance from Swami Avdheshanand Giri on Indian culture. The two-day lecture series would cover topics such as migration, education, culture, environment, and the carrying capacity of the Himalayan regions, all crucial for the welfare of the state and the entire Himalayan region. He claimed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is working towards preserving and promoting rich cultural traditions, with initiatives like Local for Vocal, Make in India, Made in India, and Startup India contributing to the dream of a self-reliant India.
On this occasion, the CM also announced the establishment of the Centre for Hindu Studies at Doon University, where in-depth study and research on Hindu civilisation, philosophy, history, and principles would be conducted. He emphasised the state’s commitment to promoting cultural traditions and overall development, balancing economy and ecology. He reminded that Uttarakhand is the only state attempting to measure Gross Environmental Product (GEP) alongside Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Dhami noted that Uttarakhand ranked first in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals list released by NITI Aayog. The state government is strengthening the local economy through various schemes, policies and initiatives like the State Millet Mission, Apple Mission, New Tourism Policy, and New Film Policy.
The CM also mentioned intensified actions against encroachment and strict implementation of Anti mass conversion law, anti-riot, and anti-copying laws. He clarified that these actions aim to maintain cultural unity and social harmony, not targeting any particular religion or community.
The event was attended by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Juna Akhara Swami Avdheshanand Giri, MP and former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Vice Chancellor of Doon University Prof Dr Surekha Dangwal, and other dignitaries.
