CM flags off 3 Rescue & Rehabilitation Vehicles for Child Beggary Prevention

Dehradun, 22 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 74 schemes worth a total of Rs 188.07 crore at Kanak Chowk, here, today. This included inauguration of 36 works worth Rs 111.22 crore and foundation stones of 38 works worth Rs 76.85 crore. The schemes included the inauguration of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations at four locations in Dehradun, as well as the foundation laying of two automated parking lots and one ground-level parking facility, costing approximately Rs 11 crore. Additionally, the Chief Minister flagged off three rescue and rehabilitation vehicles for the prevention of child beggary. He also inaugurated the Document Management Desk at the District Magistrate’s Office in Dehradun.

The Chief Minister stated that the schemes across various sectors such as education, health, roads, drinking water, irrigation, flood protection, and urban development would greatly benefit the people of Dehradun and the surrounding areas. The construction of two automated parking lots and one ground-level parking lot, at an estimated cost of Rs 11 crore, would ease traffic congestion and save time and resources for the citizens. The three newly launched rescue and rehabilitation vehicles will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation of children involved in begging. The launch of the Document Management Desk at the District Magistrate’s Office will strengthen the tracking and management process of incoming letters.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the continuous efforts by the state government for the overall development of Uttarakhand under the guidance and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the Dehradun Smart City Project, which includes the development of smart toilets, smart water management systems, and the construction of a state-of-the-art library with a capacity of 650 readers at Lansdowne Chowk. As part of environmental protection efforts, 30 electric buses are being operated in Dehradun. Additionally, a 300-bed cancer hospital is being built at Harrawala, and the mental health institute in Selaqui has been upgraded. Continuous efforts are being made to develop Dehradun as an ideal city, and the city has been ranked among the top five cities under the National Clean Air Programme by the Union Ministry of Environment.

The Chief Minister further announced the launch of four electric vehicle charging stations in Dehradun as part of efforts to make the city free from air pollution. The process of installing EV charging stations at seven other locations is also underway. These stations will not only provide convenience for the residents to charge their electric vehicles but will also contribute to environmental conservation efforts.

The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLAs Khajan Das, Sahedev Singh Pundir, Savita Kapoor, outgoing Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, BJP leaders Puneet Mittal, Anil Goyal, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, and other district-level officers.
