Himavant Film Society holds meeting on U’khand’s Film Industry

Dehradun, 22 Dec: The Himavant Film Society, Uttarakhand, organised a meeting at the RSS office here, today, bringing together writers, actors, directors, line producers, music directors, and filmmakers from Uttarakhand’s film industry under one roof. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the current status of Uttarakhand’s cinema and to explore new avenues for supporting regional filmmakers.

Dr Nitin Upadhyay, Joint Director of the Uttarakhand Film Development Council, provided detailed information about the Uttarakhand Film Policy, the benefits, opportunities, and subsidies offered by the government. He highlighted the increasing employment opportunities for filmmakers and introduced the single-window system, under which shooting permits can be obtained within 48 to 72 hours.

The Chief Speaker, Padam Singh, Regional Publicity Head, RSS (Uttar Pradesh West and Uttarakhand), emphasised that cinema is a powerful medium for bringing important discussions to the masses. He suggested that the themes of films should focus on national interests and shared information about the efforts being made by the publicity department in this direction. He also spoke about Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana, an organisation that works at the national level and promotes new and emerging filmmakers through the Chitra Bharti Film Festival.

The Himavant Film Society continues to provide a platform and support for regional filmmakers, enabling them to showcase their talent and present positive stories through short films and documentaries.

The event was conducted by Dr Dinesh Upmanyu. The meeting was attended by regional spokesperson Shailendra, regional publicity head Sanjay, and filmmakers from various regions of Uttarakhand.
