Dehradun, 22 Dec: The Doon Library and Research Centre (DLRC) organised two creative programmes for children on Saturday and Sunday. The session on Saturday was a craft workshop, and Sunday’s session included a storytelling and writing session. This gave children the opportunity to immerse themselves in the festive spirit of Christmas through crafts and entertaining stories.
Under the guidance of talented artists Deepakshi Gusain, Kalpana Bahuguna, and Zohra Nizami, children gathered at the library to participate in a Christmas craft session. The session was filled with laughter, joy, and creativity. More than 30 young children learned to make beautiful Christmas cards, decorations, and various craft materials. This experience provided children with a wonderful opportunity to discover their artistic abilities and give wings to their imagination during the holidays.
On Sunday, the library organised a storytelling and writing session, featuring US based storyteller from ‘Bento Storylab’, Upasana Kakaru. This session was free and open to all children. Through this session, children got the chance to listen to captivating stories from afar. The storyteller mesmerised an audience of around 100 young viewers with her engaging stories, taking them to different worlds and sparking their imagination. The best story created by a group of children from Aasra Trust and other schools will be published in Upasana’s children’s magazine, “Bento”.
Megha, in-charge of the children’s section at Doon Library, appealed to parents to bring their children to the library on weekends to learn new crafts and listen to captivating stories. These sessions not only entertain but also encourage children to express themselves creatively and appreciate the art of storytelling. Such events are a great way to promote community spirit and inspire young minds. For this, parents can bring their children to the children’s section of the Doon Library and Research Centre.
