Dehradun, 26 Dec: After the withdrawal of nominations for the executive committee of the Uttaranchal Press Club, here, only two candidates remain in the fray for the post of Club President. They are Arun Sharma and Bhupendra Kandari. Earlier, Girdhar Sharma had also filed nomination but subsequently withdrew it.
The list of the final candidates was released today by the Election Officer, Kunwar Raj Asthana and co-election officers VK Dobhal and Laxmi Prasad Badoni.

For the post of General Secretary, Surendra Dasila and Vinod Pundeer are contesting against each other. Four candidates remain in the fray after withdrawal of nominations for the post of Senior Vice President. They are Balam Singh Topwal, Abhishek Mishra, Gaurav Guleri and Ashish Uniyal. Rajiv Thapliyal and Sulochana Payal will contest against each other for the post of Junior Vice President.
Abhay Singh Kaintura is set to get elected unopposed for the post of Joint Secretary while Rashmi Khatri and Prabha Verma will contest against each other for the post of Joint Secretary (reserved for women).

Anil Chandola, Rajendra Uniyal and Manoj Singh Jayara will contest for the post of Treasurer. Shivesh Sharma is set to get elected unopposed to the post of Auditor.
For the post of Executive Committee members, 11 candidates are in the fray for 7 positions. The candidates are Ambuj Sharma, Kishore Rawat, Deepak Chhabra, Deepak Barthwal, Pankaj Bhatt, Manbar Singh Rawat, Mohammed Asad, Raman Kumar Jaiswal, Sandeep Badola, Shoorvir Singh Bhandari and Yogesh Raturi. There are nine positions in the executive committee, but two positions are ex-officio reserved for the outgoing President and General Secretary.

Asthana stated that the polling will be held on 29 December from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Counting of votes will be held from 3 p.m and results are expected late in the evening.
The new Executive Committee will assume charge from 1 January next year.
