Dehradun, 16 Jan: Sports Minister Rekha Arya, along with senior officials, reviewed the preparations for the opening ceremony of the 38th National Games. The event, scheduled for 28 January, is being meticulously planned to make it a historic occasion. During a meeting held at the Rajat Jayanti Sports Complex, the Minister emphasised that the opening ceremony should clearly reflect it is taking place in the year of the state’s silver jubilee. It should also showcase the sports facilities developed in the state.

Minister Arya highlighted that despite being a small state in terms of area, and mostly mountainous terrain, Uttarakhand will be hosting all the National Games events within the state. This achievement should be prominently featured in the ceremony. After the meeting, the Minister shared that most of the sports equipment has already arrived, and the remaining items will be delivered to the venues by 20 January. She also instructed that the foundation stone laying of the proposed Sports University be included in the opening ceremony. The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Amit Sinha, Sports Director Prashant Arya, and other officials.

This year, the Republic Day celebrations on 16 January will be immersed in the spirit of the 38th National Games. In this regard, Sports Minister Rekha Arya has written to the Chief Secretary. The theme of the Republic Day parades, tableaux, and morning processions across the state will be “38th National Games: Hosting by Uttarakhand”. The tableaux from all districts will feature the National Games mascot – Mauli, the torch – Tejasvini, the logo, and the National Games anthem. This initiative will not only encourage sports but also promote sports culture in the state.
