SPG team inspects games venue in Doon, ahead of PM’s visit

DEHRADUN, 24 Jan: Uttarakhand is set to host the National Games for the first time and the preparations are in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the 38th National Games on January 28, at the International Cricket Stadium in Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun. In anticipation of Modi’s visit, extensive security arrangements are being made at the venue.
An advance team of the Special Protection Group (SPG) visited the Silver Jubilee Sports Complex in Dehradun on Friday to inspect the security arrangements. Senior officials from the police department and district administration accompanied the SPG team during the inspection.
According to official sources, the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Maharana Pratap Sports College at 3:30 pm on January 28. He will hold a two-hour meeting with officials at the Prime Minister’s Office set up within the Sports College premises on this occasion.
Following the meeting, he will proceed to the International Cricket Stadium at 6:00 pm, where the grand opening ceremony of the National Games will be held.
During its visit to Dehradun on Thursday, the SPG team thoroughly inspected the arrangements, including security measures at the entry gates, the temporary PMO set up there and the International Cricket Stadium. Officials are ensuring that all arrangements meet the high-security standards required for the PM’s presence.
With tight security and meticulous planning, Dehradun is gearing up for a historic moment as it readies to host the National Games, which are expected to prove a milestone for the state.
