DEHRADUN, 29 Jan: A young man’s attempt to gain social media fame landed him in police custody after a video of him riding a motorcycle recklessly while holding a pistol-like object went viral on Wednesday, police said.
Taking cognizance of the viral video, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajai Singh directed necessary action against the individual seen in the footage. The police said, the motorcyclist identified as Shaurya, son of Vijay Dandiya, a 21-year-old resident of Nehru Colony, Dehradun. The police detained Shaurya for endangering public safety by riding dangerously in a public space. The police also seized his motorcycle under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act, and legal proceedings were initiated under the Police Act.
Police find that the pistol like object seen in the video, which initially raised concerns, was later found to be a toy gun meant for children. The police recovered it from the accused. This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of chasing online fame through dangerous stunts.
