DEHRADUN, 12 Feb: The 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand have been organised on the theme of Green Games. To fulfil\ the vision of Green Games, the area adjoining Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur Dehradun is being developed as a sports forest (called Khel Van). In this forest, one tree each will be planted in the name of 1,600 medal-winning players in the 38th National Games. The plantation in the sports forest was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami along with the winning players here on Wednesday.

Speaking on this occasion, Dhami emphasised that the 38th National Games have been organised on the theme of Green Games. He stated that 2.77 hectares of forest land will be developed as a sports forest in the name of 1,600 medal-winning players. Plantation will be done here in the name of the players who performed best in the 38th National Games. The memories of Uttarakhand, and the hard work of the players will always be remembered through these trees. Dhami highlighted that along with sports, the conservation of the environment is also important. He added that special attention has been paid to environmental protection in the 38th National Games. A maximum number of electric vehicles are being used in sports events. Water has been arranged in recycled bottles only. A 2 MW solar plant has also been installed in Sports College, Raipur. Decorative items have been made using recycled waste. Along with this, special attention has also been paid to cleanliness in the sports complex.

On this occasion, president of the Indian Olympic Association PT Usha, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Commissioner Garhwal Vinay Shankar Pandey, and others were present.
