4 new private varsities to be established in state

Dehradun, 20 Feb: The Pushkar Singh Dhami Government tabled several important bills and reports in the Uttarakhand State Assembly today. These include the Uttarakhand Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act 1950 Amendment Bill, 2025; Uttarakhand Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025; Uttarakhand Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2025; Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Reservation for the Physically Handicapped, Dependants of Freedom Fighters and Ex-Servicemen) Act, 1993) (Amendment) Bill; Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill, 2024 and Uttarakhand Public Services (Horizontal Reservation for Skilled Sportspersons).

In addition to these bills, the economic survey for the year 2025 was also tabled in the House. Furthermore, the CAG report on the management of public health services was presented.

The bill related to the private university provides for establishment of four new universities in the state. They include establishment of Phonics University in Roorkee, establishment of University of North West Himalayas in Dehradun, establishment of Ethics University in Pauri and Shree Om University in Roorkee.
