Dehradun, 20 Feb: A two-day National Summit on Institutional Leadership, organised by Vidya Bharati Higher Education Institute, will be organised at Doon University on 1 and 2 March. The event is being held in collaboration with Doon University, the Uttarakhand Higher Education Department, and the Uttarakhand Council of Science and Technology (UCOST). The primary objective of the conference is to establish India centric education and research as the focal point in academia, moving away from the dominance of Western knowledge systems.
The summit will bring together heads of the country’s premier educational institutions such as IITs, IIMs, IISc, Central Universities, NITs, IIITs, and State Universities. Vice Chancellors, Directors, Senior Professors, and Principals will deliberate on key aspects of institutional leadership, including multidisciplinary research, accreditation, implementation of the National Education Policy, innovation and entrepreneurship development, academia-industry collaboration, technology integration in education and research, research publications, organization of academic seminars and workshops, and fostering a quality academic environment on campuses.
The summit will be inaugurated by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmit Singh will be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. Additionally, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof M Jagadesh Kumar, NAAC Chairman Prof Anil Sahasrabuddhe, NAAC Director Prof G Kannivaran, and AICTE Chairman Prof TG Sitharam will also address the conference.
Vidya Bharati, a significant force in Indian education since 1952, has been actively involved in spreading education, fostering social harmony, and contributing to nation-building. For the past six to seven years, its Sadhy Shiksha Sansthan has been playing a vital role in higher education. The first Institutional Leadership Summit was held in 2023 at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar University, Indore, followed by Lucknow University in 2024. This third edition at Doon University is expected to further strengthen the prestige of Uttarakhand in higher education.
UCOST, as the key partner in this event, is playing a pivotal role in advancing institutional leadership. A dedicated technical session on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security, Data Science, and Machine Learning is expected to foster a research-driven environment in science and technology across the state.
On this occasion, Doon University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Surekha Dangwal, UCOST Director General Prof Dr Durgesh Pant, Vidya Bharati Higher Education Institute representative Pro Shivraj Singh, Dr Rajkumari Mahari, senior officials of Vidya Bharati, and several distinguished scientists were present.
