SBS University holds First Convocation

Dehradun, 21 Feb: Sardar Bhagwan Singh University (SBSU) celebrated its inaugural Convocation here, today, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s journey toward academic excellence. This event highlighted the university’s commitment to holistic education by honouring graduates for their dedication and achievements.
Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, the Governor emphasised the transformative power of education in nation-building and encouraged graduates to uphold values of integrity, innovation, and service to society. He urged them to embrace lifelong learning and make meaningful contributions to their fields.
Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, State Higher Education Minister, was the Special Guest and delivered an inspiring speech. He underscored the critical role of youth in shaping the future and stressed the importance of adaptability, ethical leadership, and continuous skill development in an ever-evolving global landscape.
During the ceremony, a total of 944 degrees were awarded across various disciplines. Outstanding students were recognised with medals and awards for their exemplary academic performances, including 77 gold medals and 34 silver medals. The atmosphere was filled with pride and joy as families, faculty, and graduates celebrated this momentous occasion together.
Prof (Dr) J Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SBSU, presented the Annual Report of the University. Dr Gaurav Deep Singh, President, SBSU, congratulated the graduates, stating, “This convocation is not merely a culmination of years of hard work but signifies the beginning of a new journey. Our students have been equipped with knowledge, values, and a spirit of innovation; we are confident that it will positively impact their careers and communities.”
Present on the occasion was SP Singh, Chairman, Gaurav Bharati Shiksha Sansthan; Sardarni Harinder Pal Kaur; Col Inder Singh Bhinder (Retd); Prof Ajaib Singh Brar, former Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University and GNDU, Amritsar; and SPS Sibia, former MLA. The proceedings were coordinated by Dr Deepak Sahni, Registrar of SBSU, ensuring a seamless execution of this grand ceremony while Dr Nidhi Belwal served as the anchor, guiding attendees with grace and eloquence.
The convocation concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem, leaving attendees inspired and motivated.
