Dehradun, 27 Feb: The Silk Department will organise a three-day Silk Agriculture Fair in Sahaspur, here, starting on 10 March. The event will be inaugurated by Ganesh Joshi, the State Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister.

During a meeting at his Dehradun camp office on Thursday, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi finalised the preparations for the fair. Around 400 silk farmers from different districts of Uttarakhand engaged in mulberry and oak tasar silk production will participate in the event.

The fair will also feature:

  • Recognition and felicitation of silk farmers for their outstanding contributions.
  • A Silk Technology Exhibition showcasing live demonstrations of silk production techniques.
  • Technical sessions by silk experts, providing valuable knowledge on silk farming.

Several stakeholders from the Uttarakhand Silk Department, Central Silk Board, and research institutes under the Central Silk Board will attend the fair, along with local representatives and a large number of silk farmers.

“The government is committed to protecting the interests of silk farmers. Various schemes are being implemented at both the central and state levels to maximise farmers’ benefits and improve their economic conditions. I invite all silk farmers to participate in the Silk Agriculture Fair,” stated Minister Joshi on the occasion.
