There is an alarming rise in the number of road accidents in Uttarakhand, claiming lives on a daily basis. Despite efforts, road mishaps continue unchecked. The Chakrata region has witnessed a series of road accidents in recent months. It may be recalled that on December 27, 2024, a car carrying tourists to Lokhandi lost control near Lokhandi and plunged into a 200-metre deep gorge, killing one and injuring three others. On February 2, 2025, a car heading to a wedding ceremony on Bhupau Motor Road crashed, resulting in one death and two serious injuries. On 23 February 2025, a car accident near Sahiya left a pharmacist critically injured.

The increasing number of accidents in the region underscores the urgent need for improved road safety measures.
