13-year-old student of Mussoorie school drowns in swimming pool; investigations launched

Dehradun, 17 Mar: A 13-year-old seventh grade student died after drowning in a swimming pool in a reputed school, here, today. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the Mussoorie police reached the spot and began investigations.

The Mussoorie police said that at 5:45 a.m., the 13-year-old student went to the swimming pool for practice as usual and was swimming with his friends. After some time, when the student did not make any movement, his friends and teachers pulled him out of the swimming pool, but he was in a bad condition.

He was taken to the Landour Community Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead after examination. Mussoorie police said that the whole matter is being investigated. CCTV cameras installed in the school were also checked.

The relatives of the deceased have been informed about the incident. The guardian of the deceased lives in Dehradun and has reached Mussoorie. After the Panchnama proceedings, the body of the deceased has been sent to Mussoorie Sub District Hospital for postmortem.

The deceased student was a resident of New Delhi and studied in a reputed school here. The principal of the school and the teachers present at the time of the incident are also being questioned. The police are investigating all the aspects closely. On the other hand, no police officer is commenting on the issue. SSI Kishan Kumar clarified that only a senior officer would brief the media, and he was not authorised to do so. Late in the evening, CO, Mussoorie, Manoj Kumar issued a video statement and said that the whole matter is being investigated.
