Dehradun, 5 May: State Congress Senior Vice President and senior Congress Spokesperson Dhirendra Pratap has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Congress leader, journalist, and statehood agitationist Anil Gupta, as well as the passing of BJP leader Manveer Chauhan’s wife, Uma Chauhan. He has conveyed his condolences to both families and acknowledged the personal and political void left by their passing.
Remembering Anil Gupta for his active role in the Uttarakhand movement, Pratap described him as a committed Congress leader. He noted that Gupta’s dedication to the party led former Chief Minister Harish Rawat to appoint him as his political advisor while serving as Congress President. Gupta also held the position of President of the youth wing of Uttarakhand Joint Sangharsh Samiti for some time and was deeply involved in journalism.
Pratap stated that Gupta’s demise is a significant loss to both the Congress party and fellow agitationists of the state movement. He extended his support to Gupta’s family, affirming that as a close friend and a dedicated Congress leader, Gupta’s contributions will always be remembered.
Additionally, Pratap expressed grief over the passing of Uma Chauhan, wife of BJP’s State Media In charge, Manveer Chauhan. He remarked that a wife holds immense significance in a person’s life and losing her at a young age is an unbearable tragedy. On behalf of the Congress Party, Pratap offered his heartfelt condolences and prayed for strength for Manveer Chauhan to endure this profound loss.
