Workshop on Thalassemia held at Graphic Era

Dehradun, 8 May: On World Thalassemia Day, experts at Graphic Era informed the students about various aspects of Thalassemia.

A workshop on Thalassemia was organised at Graphic Era Hill University, here, today. While addressing the workshop as the Chief Guest, Hematologist and Blood Cancer Specialist at Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences Dr (Col) Jasjit Singh said that Thalassemia is not a curse but a disease and if treated at the right time, it can be cured quickly. Dr Singh spoke to the students about the causes, symptoms and modern medical methods of curing Thalassemia and urged them to spread awareness.

Dr Vibha Gupta from the Department of Pathology shared information with the students on preventive measures of Thalassemia. On this occasion, students presented inspirational skits in which they effectively depicted the problems of thalassemia patients and their need for social support. In this, Threads of Red (Anamika, Manisha Raturi, Divya Raj, Terezz, Steuz) secured first place, The Blood We Share (Desteria, Joel, Othman, Abbey, Ricky) secured second place, and Nukkad Natak on Thalassemia (Nikita, Zubair, Firoz, Anjali and Bulbul) secured third place.

The workshop was organised by the Paramedical Department. HOD of Paramedical Department Dr Rinku Yadav along with Dr Tanya Goyal, Dr Upasana Joshi, Dr Ananya Baranwal and students were present at the workshop.
