Dehradun, 23 May: Official sources have claimed that the Pushkar Singh Dhami Government, having completed over three years in office, has decided to hold cabinet meetings at shorter intervals to expedite decision-making on key proposals related to infrastructure, industrial investment, agriculture, horticulture, and public welfare schemes. It may be pertinent to remind here that a large number of crucial proposals have remained pending due to the infrequency of cabinet meetings, prompting a shift in approach.

In response to this issue, CM Dhami has directed Secretary, Council of Ministers, Shailesh Bagoli to schedule cabinet meetings at regular intervals to accommodate the growing number of proposals. Consequently, the next cabinet meeting has been scheduled for 28 May. Bagoli has confirmed the development, acknowledging that the increasing volume of proposals necessitates more frequent meetings.
Departmental sources indicate that several proposals from various departments have been submitted, but many remain pending due to the backlog of the proposals before the cabinet. As a result, a substantial number of proposals are being tabled in each meeting. Cabinet ministers have also expressed the need for sufficient time to deliberate on critical matters. The large volume of proposals often limits the scope for in-depth discussions, leading to concerns about efficient governance.
Holding cabinet meetings at shorter intervals is expected to streamline the decision-making process, allowing fewer proposals to be discussed in each session, thereby ensuring comprehensive deliberation and timely execution of government policies.
