DEHRADUN, 31 May: The construction of Dehradun’s first smart automated parking facilities is nearing completion, with three key installations set to be inaugurated shortly. These projects, undertaken under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and spearheaded by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, aim to alleviate the city’s longstanding parking woes.
The automated parking systems are located near Tibetan Market, Parade Ground, and within the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (Coronation) Hospital premises. Designed to accommodate 132, 96, and 18 vehicles respectively, these facilities are expected to significantly ease vehicular congestion in these high-density areas.
District Magistrate Bansal today shared that the goal is to ease vehicle congestion and provide organised and secure parking options for the public. He also noted that the district administration has undertaken improvements at the Coronation Hospital, integrating upgraded physical infrastructure with healthcare services.
The Parade Ground and Tibetan Market facilities are in their final stages of completion and will soon be opened to the public. Construction at the Coronation Hospital site is also progressing rapidly. These units, developed with modular and relocatable designs, allow for flexibility and future relocation, should the need arise.
The DM asserted that the introduction of these smart parking solutions aligns with the broader ambition to realise the Chief Minister’s vision of a “modern Uttarakhand”, with urban infrastructure development at its forefront. District Magistrate Savin Bansal, known for his innovative administrative approach, has been instrumental in translating this vision into a practical and visible reality.
The automated parking systems are designed to make efficient use of limited space and help manage urban vehicle parking in a more effective way. The project is being executed on a priority basis, with final checks underway to ensure readiness for public use.
In addition to these developments, the district administration has also undertaken improvements at the Coronation Hospital, integrating upgraded physical infrastructure with healthcare services. This initiative not only enhances healthcare delivery but also contributes to the city’s overall infrastructure modernisation. The government also claims that the introduction of these smart parking solutions will also serve as a model for other parts of the city, promoting efficient land use and reducing traffic congestion.
