DGP briefs Gov on Char Dham & Kanwar Yatra preparations

Dehradun, 9 Jul: Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth met Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, today.

During the meeting, the DGP briefed the Governor on the security arrangements for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, the active role of the police in disaster management, increased efficiency through technological innovations, special campaigns for the safety of women and children, and welfare schemes for police personnel.

On the occasion, the Governor congratulated all personnel of the Uttarakhand Police for the peaceful and successful conduct of the recent visits of the President and Vice President to Uttarakhand, the first phase of the Char Dham Yatra, and the Kainchi Dham fair. He also praised their commendable work in ensuring security, traffic management, and crowd control.

The Governor instructed that, for all major religious events in the state, modern technology-based innovations should be adopted and a strategic long-term plan should be prepared to further strengthen the security arrangements. The DGP also informed the Governor about the ongoing initiatives to make the law and order situation in the state more robust and responsive.
