Dehradun, 25 Jul: Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat has written a letter to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the provision of suitable land for the construction of a heliport in Haridwar. In his letter, he has requested the Chief Minister to direct the concerned officials to apprise him of the updated status of the heliport project.
MP Rawat had earlier raised the issue of heliport construction in Haridwar under Rule 377 in Parliament on 27 March 2025. In a written reply, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol informed him that the development of the heliport would be undertaken under the UDAN scheme once the state government identifies and allots suitable land.
The Union Minister further stated in his letter to MP Rawat that Haridwar heliport had been identified for RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme) flight operations during the second round of bidding under the UDAN scheme. The Uttarakhand government is currently in the process of finalising an appropriate site for the heliport. After land identification and allocation by the state government, the heliport will be developed as per the provisions of the scheme.
