Dehradun, 31 Jul: State Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Satpal Maharaj paid a courtesy call on Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying  Rajiv Ranjan Singh at his residence in New Delhi today and expressed gratitude for the grant of Rs 193.84 crore to Uttarakhand under the National Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.

Maharaj met the Union Minister and thanked him on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand for the approval of the work plan worth Rs193.84 crore for the year 2025-26 under the National Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. The work plan, formulated by the State Executive Committee (SEC), was unanimously approved by the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Panchayati Raj Ministry, Government of India, with almost 100% inclusion of all components.

Congratulating the newly elected representatives of the three-tier Panchayats in the state, the Panchayati Raj Minister said that the approved work plan will include capacity-building training programs for the newly elected Panchayat representatives, officers and employees of the line departments. In addition, study tours for representatives, construction of Panchayat Bhawans in Gram Panchayats lacking such buildings, computerisation, establishment of Panchayat Learning Centres, implementation of Learning Management Systems under innovative schemes, and installation of bio-digesters on travel routes will also be undertaken. This will not only strengthen the Panchayats but also enhance the efficiency of their representatives.

He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always had a special affection for Uttarakhand and has consistently provided guidance regarding the empowerment of Panchayats. Expressing gratitude towards the Prime Minister and Union Panchayati Raj Minister, Maharaj thanked them for their cooperation in strengthening the Panchayats of Uttarakhand.

Maharaj also requested the Union Minister that, considering the Himalayan terrain and challenging conditions, it is essential to conduct orientation and induction training programmes for all representatives of the three-tier Panchayats. Hence, he urged that more funds be allocated to Uttarakhand for capacity-building and training purposes.
