Mussoorie, 4 Aug: The two-day, ‘19th Manorite Invitational Table Tennis Tournament’ commenced at St George’s College, here, on 2 August. A total of 17 schools from Dehradun and Mussoorie, with over 130 players, participated in the tournament. The competition was held in three categories for both Boys and Girls: Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19.
The Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony, Brother Felix Kumar (Vice-Principal, St George’s College), felicitated the winners and runners-up.
The schools that participated in the tournament were The Doon School, Dehradun; Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie; The Heritage School, Dehradun; The TonsBridge School, Dehradun; Fylfot Public School, Dehradun; Oak Grove School, Mussoorie; Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun; Unison World School, Dehradun; Ecole Globale International Girls’ School, Dehradun; Him Jyoti School, Dehradun; Mussoorie International School, Mussoorie; Gyananda School for Girls, Dehradun; Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School (Race Course), Dehradun; Mussoorie Public School, Mussoorie; The Aryan School, Dehradun; Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, Mussoorie; and St George’s College, Mussoorie.
The winners in various categories were:
In the finals of the Under-14 Boys Category, Krishna Gupta of The Doon School defeated Yug Agnihotri of The Doon School by 3-1. In the finals of the Under-16 Boys Category, Shlok Agarwal of St George’s College defeated Yug Agnihotri of The Doon School by 3-0.
In the finals of the Under-19 Boys Category, Aditya Dungurpur of The Doon School defeated Shlok Agarwal of St George’s College by 3-0.
In the finals of the Boys Doubles (Open Category), Krishna Gupta and Yug Agnihotri of The Doon School defeated Aarav Dadu and Abheer Bachaer of The Doon School by 3-0.
In the finals of the Under-14 Girls Category, Zyra Thind of Welham Girls’ School defeated Aadya Garg of The TonsBridge School by 3-0.
In the finals of the Under-16 Girls Category, Aanya Sajwan of Gyananda School for Girls defeated Shyla Sharma of Welham Girls’ School by 3-2.
In the finals of the Under-19 Girls Category, Stuti Kukreti of Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School (Race Course), Dehradun defeated Rhea Mamgain of Welham Girls’ School by 3-0.
In the finals of the Girls Doubles (Open Category), Sheetal Kandwal and Priya of Him Jyoti School defeated Shyla Sharma and Anika Agarwal of Welham Girls’ School by 3-2.
The two-day, ‘19th Manorite Invitational Table Tennis Tournament’ was successfully conducted under the supervision of Brother Jeyaseelan S (Principal, St George’s College, Mussoorie), Brother Britto (Superior & Sports Secretary), Brother Felix Kumar (Vice-Principal), Anand Thapa (Sports Coordinator), Ramesh Chamoli (Table Tennis Coach), Bhavnesh Negi and the members of the Sports Department of St George’s College.
