Dehradun, 7 Aug: The police will initiate stringent action under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act against individuals found spreading rumours related to the natural disaster in Dharali, located in Uttarkashi district. In this connection, the officials have been directed to maintain continuous surveillance of social media platforms to identify and curb the circulation of misleading content. The district administration in district Uttarkashi has issued an appeal to the general public, urging them to remain vigilant against any form of misinformation and to promptly report such individuals to the authorities.
The government has claimed that, in the wake of the Dharali disaster, certain individuals have been attempting to mislead the public by disseminating false information through deceptive posts and videos on social media. The administration has taken serious note of these activities and has instructed that legal action be taken against those responsible under the Disaster Management Act. Officials have emphasised that any attempts to spread panic, confusion, or unrest among citizens during this critical period will not be tolerated, as such actions pose a threat to the smooth conduct of relief and rescue operations.
The administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all affected individuals. It has called upon the public to cooperate fully and to refrain from sharing unverified information and instead support the collective effort to manage the crisis effectively.
