Dehradun, 13 Aug: Under the Cluster School Scheme in Tehri district, construction and other infrastructure works will soon commence at five selected Government Inter Colleges. Minister for School Education, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, has approved the budget estimate of Rs 10.65 crore prepared by the executing agency for these schools.
With the aim of further improving school education in the state and providing students from Classes 6 to 12 better educational and infrastructural facilities within a single campus, the state government has decided to establish cluster schools. Under this scheme, schools in various districts are being selected and developed as cluster schools.
In this context, the Irrigation Department’s Project Division, Rishikesh, has prepared an estimate of Rs 10.65 crore for various construction works in the five selected cluster schools in Tehri district. These include: GIC Nagdev Pathald – Rs 1.94 crore for building and other infrastructure works; GIC Bangiyal – Rs 2 crore; GIC Kandikhal – Rs 2.26 crore; GIC Chaka (Queeli) – Rs 1.90 crore; GIC Keshardhar Naicholi – Rs 2.55 crore.
The minister has approved these estimates, and funds will be released shortly for the commencement of construction works.
Under this scheme, the selected schools will be developed into full-fledged cluster schools, which will include the construction of classrooms, computer rooms, principal’s office, administrative rooms, staff rooms, various laboratories, libraries, and toilets. Major renovations of old buildings will also be undertaken along with the provision of additional facilities. This will ensure that in one school campus, students have access to all subject teachers, laboratories, computer labs, sports and extracurricular activities, as well as the benefits of various government schemes.
“In the first phase of the Cluster School Scheme, five schools have been selected in Tehri district. I have approved the Rs 10.65 crore estimate prepared by the executing agency for various construction works in these schools. Funds will be released soon to start the work,” asserted Dr Dhan Singh Rawat.
