Dehradun, 28 Aug: Tula’s International School hosted the 7th SD Jain Memorial Football Championship, a five-day tournament that brought together 24 teams from leading schools. The event began with an opening ceremony in the presence of Prof (Dr) Shailendra Kumar Tiwary, Director of Tula’s Institute.
Twelve teams competed in the boys’ category and twelve in the girls’ category. Schools such as Woodstock, Ecole Globale, Vantage Hall, The Asian School, DIS Riverside, Wynberg Allen, Oakgrove Mussoorie, KV IMA, Army Public School and the host school, Tula’s International School, among others took part in the championship.
The semi-finals saw tough competition with Tula’s International School playing against KV IMA and Army Public School facing Oakgrove Mussoorie in the boys’ category. In the girls’ category, the semi-finals were played between TCV and Woodstock, and between KV IMA and Shishya Public School.
The finals saw KV IMA defeat Woodstock School to win the girls’ championship, while Army Public School overcame KV IMA to claim the boys’ title. The closing ceremony was presided over by Raman Koushal, Headmaster, Tula’s International School, as the Chief Guest.
Individual awards were also presented. The best goalkeepers were Koshiki Yadav from Tula’s International School and Aadarsh from KV IMA. The emerging players were Mehroonisha from Tula’s International School and Jayson from Army Public School.
The Best Girl Player was Aahana Prasai from Woodstock, while the Best Boy Player was Anmol from Tula’s International School. Woodstock finished as runners-up in the girls’ category and KV IMA in the boys’ category.
The referees and officials, including SP Joshi, Pushkar Singh, Satyaprasad, Gopal Joshi, Anish Chettri, and Saksham Kala, were recognised for their contribution. The championship concluded with the national anthem.
