Dehradun, 27 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated a state-level public awareness drive titled ‘Vigilance- Our Shared Responsibility’ at the Secretariat here today. The campaign is aimed at promoting integrity and transparency in governance. This special drive will be conducted across Uttarakhand until State Formation Day on 9 November 2025. On this occasion, the CM also administered an oath of integrity to the officials, reinforcing the government’s ‘commitment to ethical public service’.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dhami recalled the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and noted that the Iron Man of India epitomised the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and devoted his life to national unity, integrity, and towards building a strong nation. He asserted that the awareness campaign has been launched to commemorate Patel’s birth anniversary. The CM also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only pledged a corruption-free India but has also translated that vision into action. Under his leadership, a new work culture has emerged, making governance and administration more transparent, accountable, and people-centric.
The CM claimed that the state government, guided by PM Modi’s vision, is implementing a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. He reminded that, since the formation of Uttarakhand, the Vigilance Department has taken decisive action, arresting 339 corrupt officers and employees red-handed. In the last three years alone, 78 officials have been arrested and jailed for corruption, along with over 27 persons in other related cases.
Dhami also announced that to strengthen public participation in the anti-corruption drive, a toll-free number, 1064, is operational in the state. This helpline has facilitated the registration of nearly ten thousand complaints over the past three years, resulting in action in 62 trap cases and four open investigations. The CM asserted that corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances and affirmed that those found guilty will be sent behind bars. The CM directed all the departments to ensure wide publicity of the campaign to maximise public engagement.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan observed that the foundation of a strong society and administration lies in sincerity, honesty, and discipline among personnel. He added that disciplined work culture naturally curbs corruption. Bardhan also acknowledged the significant strides made in the past four years under Dhami’s leadership towards achieving a corruption-free administration.
Among those present on the occasion were DGP Deepam Seth, Principal Secretary L Fanai, Director, Vigilance, V Murugesan, along with several secretaries and senior police officers.
