Dehradun, 26 Nov: The Central Academy for State Forest Service, Dehradun, is organising a three-day training programme on “Green Infrastructure and Development” for employees of the Forest Department, NHAI, CPWD, CCU, Railways, the power sector, and other engineering departments from today till 28 November 2025. The programme is being held under the “Other Services” training initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, with a total of 23 participants from Uttarakhand taking part.
At the inaugural ceremony, Course Director Ankit Gupta, Scientist ‘C’, welcomed the chief guest, dignitaries on the dais, and all participants, and presented an overview of the three-day training schedule. On this occasion, Principal of the Central Academy for State Forest Service, Dehradun, I Vikram of the Indian Forest Service, stated that the Forest Department works for the conservation of wildlife and ecology, and noted that increasing building construction contributes to global warming. He emphasised the need to combine traditional practices with modern technology to ensure that development is aligned with green development.
Addressing the programme as Chief Guest, R Pradeep Kumar, Director of CBRI Roorkee, said investment in infrastructure is meaningful only when it delivers threefold benefits to society. He also highlighted ethical traditions, sustainability, and a sound understanding of government policies and procedures as essential for long-term development. He said human–nature coexistence is indispensable, but many of today’s challenges arise because human-made systems are not aligned with nature. Describing India’s rapidly expanding economy and industries as national assets, he pointed out that India is among the world’s largest exporters of wood.
The training programme on “Green Infrastructure and Development” will include extensive discussions on green building concepts and guidelines, waste management, engineering solutions for environmental works, energy-efficient building design principles, urban planning and smart city development, and new technologies related to disaster risk reduction. Experts will also discuss how green buildings not only conserve energy and water but also minimise carbon emissions. Effective waste management solutions help accelerate green development, while engineering innovations and energy-efficient designs are crucial for creating sustainable infrastructure. Additionally, innovations in smart urban planning and modern disaster-risk reduction technologies will be shared.
