Dehradun, 15 Dec: The Vice-Chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Dr Manmohan Singh Chauhan, paid a courtesy call today on the Governor, Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), at the Lok Bhawan, here. During the meeting, the Governor sought detailed information from the Vice-Chancellor regarding the university’s academic, research, and administrative progress.
The Governor appreciated the quality academic work and research activities being carried out by the university and described them as highly beneficial for the state and the nation.
The Governor directed the university to further strengthen research and innovation in seven key priority areas, namely: production of high-quality seeds, honey production, coarse grains (millets), semiconductors, horticultural crops such as dragon fruit and kiwi, drone technology, and aromatic (aroma) crops. He emphasised that women empowerment should be placed at the core of all initiatives in these sectors.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Manmohan Singh Chauhan assured the Governor that, under his guidance, the university would develop a concrete action plan to provide new direction to research, innovation, and extension activities in these priority areas.
