Senior Citizens’ Forum members rejoice at Lekhak Gaon

Haridwar, 17 Dec: It was a unique excursion, over a hundred old adults queuing up for the bus in Shivalik Nagar in jubilant mood, heading for a destination a village nearly 50 kilometres away from the holy city. The village was also special – a calm rejuvenating haven of serenity surrounded by hills, open spaces, green ambience – Lekhak Gaon. The Senior Citizens’ Forum, Haridwar, had organised a picnic at this scenic location “Lekhak Gaon”, situated in Thano village, Dehradun, this weekend.

As many as 106 senior citizens, mostly engineers, educationists and their spouses, departed for Lekhak Gaon from Shiv Temple, Shivalik Nagar, Haridwar in the morning in two busses. Sudhir Kumar Agrawal, Secretary of the forum, said that the entire programme was successfully organised by the Executive Committee and everyone enjoyed to their heart’s content. The buffet lunch including some traditional pahadi dishes in Himalayan Rasoi satiated the members who had spent their energy playing games, flying kites and in other recreational activities.

Ajit Jain, President of the Senior Citizens’ Forum, said, “With the support of associate members Pramod Kumar Gupta, RK Agrawal, Devanand Verma, and Yogesh Gupta, various recreational games and activities were organised at Lekhak Gaon. After the competitions, prizes were awarded to the winners. All participants thoroughly enjoyed the traditional hill cuisine served at the venue. The picnic proved to be a memorable event filled with joy, camaraderie, and healthy recreation for all senior citizens.”

A chance visit by Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, former Minister of Education, brought cheer amongst the participants.

Subhash Chandra Goyal, Subhash Chandra Agrawal, RK Aneja, Ambrish Kumar Rastogi, Vipin Kumar Sharma, Pradeep Kumar Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, SSP Sehgal, Anjali Mujoo, Suresh Phalge and others were among those present.
