Rural Development Minister Joshi reviews PMGSY Projects with Officials

Dehradun, 17 Dec: State Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi today held a departmental review meeting with officials concerned with the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at his camp office, here. During the meeting, the Minister sought detailed information about ongoing and proposed road and bridge construction works under PMGSY and issued necessary directions to expedite the projects.

The Rural Development Minister instructed officials to promptly complete all procedural formalities related to the construction of 184 rural roads with a total length of 1,228 kilometres, approved by the Central Government at a cost of Rs 1,700 crore, and to commence construction work at the earliest. He also directed that priority be given to the repair of damaged roads under PMGSY and that these works be completed as soon as possible.

Minister Ganesh Joshi clearly emphasised that road and bridge construction works under PMGSY must be carried out in a time-bound, high-quality, and transparent manner so that rural areas can benefit from improved road connectivity. He also instructed officials to resolve pending cases related to land compensation distribution on a priority basis.

During the meeting, officials informed that under PMGSY Phase-III, construction work on 212 roads has already been completed, while work on the remaining 80 roads is progressing rapidly.

Present on the occasion were URRDA Chief Executive Officer Alok Pandey, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kumar Pathak, along with other officials.
