Youth’s indiscriminate firing on car sparks fear in Kaladhungi

Ramnagar, 19 Dec: The Kaladhungi police station area in Nainital district was jolted by gunfire today, triggering widespread panic. Chaos broke out in the Patliya-Gaja village of the Kotabagh area when an unidentified youth opened fire indiscriminately at a parked Hyundai car. This sensational incident has cast a shadow of terror over the entire locality.

According to reports, the attack focused on a Hyundai car with registration number UK04 K 2997, which was parked by the roadside in Patliya-Gaja village of Kotabagh. During its onsite probe, the Police recovered a spent cartridge from a 12-bore gun at the scene, confirming that shots had been fired. The sharp crack of the gunshots sent nearby villagers into immediate panic and they rushed to the safety of their homes.

The accused youth fled the spot right after the shooting. As fear gripped the villagers, someone alerted the police through the 112 emergency number. Kaladhungi police rushed to the location, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation.

The Police officers carried out a thorough inspection of the crime scene. They are examining bullet marks on the car and studying footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the perpetrator. Investigations are also under way to determine if the shooting stemmed from an old enmity or some other criminal conspiracy.

The local residents commented that such incidents are fostering an atmosphere of fear among the villagers. They have demanded that police step up patrolling in the area and ensure the swift arrest of the accused. The Kaladhungi police claimed to be conducting an in-depth probe and have assured that the youth behind the firing would soon be identified and apprehended. Additional personnel have also been deployed to maintain peace.
